Selected Works 2000
From Exhibition at Art Resources Transfer, Inc.

Ambiguities arise when similar objects are repeatedly photographed from different angles and positions. In the photos, it is usually impossible to distinguish one object from another. The objects are shot singly or in random groupings. The total number never appear in a single shot. Often, to heighten the artifice of the photos, color is added by hand. Some prints are cut into varying sizes and shapes so they may be viewed as 2-dimensional compositional elements. At the same time, handwritten captions thwart the viewer's expectations by emphasizing the reality of the objects. The intention of this visual/verbal interplay is to challenge conventional notions by presenting alternative interpretations as true as those normally accepted as true.

Sepia photocollages with ink, some hand tinted, on museumboard, images below 12" x 9".
